RoadHub is an app for recording and understanding your drives, made by DINNO CJSC, Yerevan, Armenia (“we”). This policy explains what the app and our website collect, why, who else handles it and how to delete it.
In short: we receive your position only while a drive is being recorded or you are following a route. Your drives are visible only to you. We never sell data or show ads, and you can delete everything from the app.
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address, display name and password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash and can never be read.
- Drives: while a drive is recorded (you tap “Start a new trip”, or follow a route: navigating always records), the app sends us the drive’s GPS positions with their time, speed, direction, accuracy and altitude, and whether the phone thinks you are driving or walking. From these we work out the route, distance, time, speeds and the speed limits along the way, hard braking and acceleration, the streets you drove and an estimate of the fuel or electricity used. The app does not follow you when no drive is being recorded.
- Your cars: the make, model, year and fuel type you choose in the garage, and any fuel prices and consumption figures you enter.
- Navigation and search: to plan a route the app sends our server your starting point, destination and stops; to find an address, what you type. We use them only to answer and do not keep them. Home, Work and recent places are saved only on your phone.
- Speed cameras and streets: the app downloads the cameras and streets around you so that it works without internet; the request says which area.
- Device and feedback: your phone model, its operating system version (iOS or Android) and the app version when you sign in; the rating and optional comment you give after a drive.
- Sign-up on our website (roadhub.am): first and last name, email, an optional phone number and the page’s language, so that we can invite you to try the app.
- Server logs: for a short time our server records technical details of each request (IP address, time, the request’s path without its parameters, app version) to keep the service secure and fix faults. Positions and search text are never written to the logs.
We do not collect your contacts, photos (a share picture is made on your phone and saved only where you choose), sound from the microphone or advertising identifiers.
2. What we use it for
- To run the app: record and score drives, show your history, reports and fuel cost, warn about cameras, guide you on routes and keep you signed in.
- To improve road data: how long it took to drive each road, without who drove it, helps estimate travel times for everyone.
- To answer you: password reset codes, replies to your messages, invitations.
- To keep the service safe and working: preventing abuse and investigating errors.
We do not sell your data, show ads, use your data for advertising or profiling, or give it to insurers or anyone else for their own purposes. Other drivers cannot see your drives: there are no public profiles or rankings.
3. Who else handles your data
Only service providers that run parts of RoadHub for us, under their own privacy and security terms:
- Neon (Neon Inc.): our database, hosted on Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
- Oracle Cloud (Oracle): the server that runs the RoadHub service and route planning, in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
- Google (Gmail): sends our emails, such as password reset codes.
- Apple (on iPhone): delivers the app and its updates (App Store, TestFlight), draws the map (Apple Maps) and helps with address search and place names. When you search or look at the map, Apple receives the search text or the map area under Apple’s privacy policy. If you allow it in iOS settings, Apple passes crash reports to us without your identity.
- Google (on Android): delivers the app and its updates (Google Play). On phones with Google services, your position comes from Google’s location services, and address search and place names also ask the phone’s geocoder, which is Google’s: Google receives the search text or the position under Google’s privacy policy. If you allow it in your phone’s settings, Google passes crash reports to us without your identity.
- OpenFreeMap (on Android): serves the map the Android app draws. To show the map, the phone asks it for the area on screen, so OpenFreeMap sees that area and your IP address.
- Google Fonts: our website loads its fonts from Google, which sees your IP address.
Map, street, address and speed-camera data come from OpenStreetMap; we send nothing about you to OpenStreetMap. Routes are calculated on our own server.
We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it, for example under a court order, and only as much as required.
4. Where your data is
In the European Union (Germany). If you use RoadHub from Armenia, Georgia, Russia or another country, your data is transferred to and stored there.
5. How long we keep it
- Account, drives and cars: as long as you have the account. Removing a drive in the app hides it from your history and totals; it is deleted for good with your account.
- Sign-in sessions end after 90 days without use; password reset codes after 15 minutes.
- Website sign-ups: until you ask us to remove them, or until we no longer need them to invite you.
- Server logs: from a few days to a few weeks.
- Backups made before server updates are deleted after 30 days.
6. Deleting your data
In the app: Profile → Delete account. Your account is locked at once and, within minutes, deleted with all your drives, positions, cars and reports. Copies in backups disappear within 30 days. Ratings and comments you left stay, without your name or account.
You can also write to us from your account’s email address and we will delete the account for you. To remove a sign-up from our website, write to us too: vahe.minasyan@dinno.am.
7. Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct it or delete it; most of it you can see and change in the app. Write to the address below and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Armenia, that is the Personal Data Protection Agency.
8. Permissions
RoadHub asks to use your location while you use the app, and a drive you started keeps recording when the screen is locked; on Android a notification shows for as long as it records. You can change or withdraw this at any time in your phone’s settings (on iPhone: Settings → RoadHub; on Android: Settings → Apps → RoadHub → Permissions); without it, drives cannot be recorded.
On Android, if you choose in Profile to hold back calls or notifications while driving, RoadHub asks for Do Not Disturb access and uses it only to switch its own Do Not Disturb rule on when a drive starts and off when it ends. Android decides which callers still get through, from your starred contacts; RoadHub does not read your contacts.
9. Children
RoadHub is made for drivers and is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect children’s data; if you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored as hashes, and only the people who run the service can reach the servers.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you about important changes in the app or by email before they apply.
